The Center for Family Peace
After months of planning and working, we are proud to announce Anna Marie’s Alliance Building Hope: A Capital Campaign. We are nearly half-way to our goal of $4 million to remodel and expand Anna Marie’s Shelter.
Here are our goals:
- We will expand our current shelter to build the Center for Family Peace. This will be a place where community members and those who need our services, but not shelter, can gather to learn and get information.
- We will also phase in remodeling our current shelter from communal style living to apartment style to offer women and children a better opportunity to heal and create self-sufficiency. This will be completed in phases so there will always be shelter available to those who need it.
Why are we doing this? Two reasons: Prevention—We need to stop domestic violence before it starts. Building more beds will not prevent abuse, only education and outreach services will provide our community with a way to prevent domestic violence. Improved Services—Our current shelter is 17-years old. It is not configured to offer optimum services to the women and children who need it the most. Apartment style living will provide moms and kids with more family time to develop independence and learn to live as a family.
We hope to break ground on this new adventure in April 2018 and dedicate our new building in October 2018 which is also our 40th Anniversary!
Anna Marie’s Alliance continues to innovate, grow, and provide the best services to our community. We hope you will join us in this journey.
