School Youth Advocate Internship

A School Youth Advocate Intern at Anna Marie’s will be educated and work on:
-Implementing prevention/intervention programs to promote anti-violence in area schools.
-Planning and conducting group sessions for referred youth in the area schools.
-Providing community education on dating violence, interpersonal skills, and family violence.
-Working one-to-one with youth from local schools who are referred and/or request advocacy services.
-Remaining current with research on family violence.
-Perform related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

- Understanding and empathy for the issues/problems facing children and youth.
- Understanding of family violence and the effects on children.
- Ability to respond appropriately to children and youth who may be in crisis.
- Ability to work with people from diverse racial, cultural, social and  economic backgrounds.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team member.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Requirements
- Experience working with children and youth.
- Public speaking and group facilitation skills.
- Valid Minnesota drivers license and car insurance.
- Fully operational vehicle.

Open to men and women 20 years of age and older
