If you want your number unlisted, tell your local phone company you want to be non-published, that way neither your address nor your telephone number will be listed with information or in the white pages - check up on it periodically. Call the telephone company to inquire about your number to make sure it is non-published and unlisted.
Directory updating:
Find out when the telephone company updates the directory. Remind them that your number is to be a non-published number, if this is the option you have chosen.
More tips :
- Ask your local telephone company to list only your first initial with your last name instead of spelling out your first name and including your middle initial, this makes it harder to identify and find you.
- Keep telephone messages from your abuser, especially if they are in violation of an Order for Protection/ Harassment Order or if they are threatening in any way.
Call 911 if your abuser violates any court order or if you are being threatened.
