Women's Advocate Internship

A Woman's Advocate Intern  will be educated on and work with:

  • Providing advocacy and support to clients.
  • Systems intervention and advocacy.
  • Assisting clients with attaining necessary community resources.
  • Written documentation, maintaining internal logging and record keeping.
  • Maintaining client files.
  • Responding to crisis telephone calls.
  • Forms used by organization such as Intake, Departure and various others.
  • Arrest calls and collaboration with Criminal Justice Intervention Advocates
  • Health-care based advocacy
     

Qualifications:

  • Open to women 20 years of age and older.
  • Minimum time commitment of 30-32 hours a week for 10 weeks.
  • Previous support- or crisis-intervention experience a plus but not essential.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team.
  • Good problem solving and priority setting skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Belief in non-violence and desire to assist victims of abuse.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all CMTFBW clients and staff.
