Mom and Me Library

The children’s program is very excited to introduce our "Mom and Me Library". The goal for our new library is to encourage kids and their moms to build healthy educational habits together. We will be building a small library of children’s books that residents will check in and out, we will teach a reading and writing skills class, and will encourage moms and kids to read to each other. It will also assist women who may have their own reading difficulties.

Our advocate will teach the class 1-1.5 hours per week. The library will be open daily, 8am-7pm.

We would like to thank Chelsea, a student at The College of St. Benedicts, who wrote a grant to her school’s student philanthropy club to start the children’s library. With the grant money she received, she was able to purchase close to 200 children's books. She will volunteer her time to teach a reading and language arts class to the residents this summer.

Our plan is to continue the growth of our reading program in the fall with a different pending grant request.
