In September Patty Hackett, Anna Marie’s Alliance Child/Youth Services Coordinator, (pictured) was part of a panel which presented at the National Center for Victims of Crime National Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The panel included Ann Cofell, Mid-Minnesota Legal Assistance Deputy Director, Judge Kris Davick-Halfen, 7thJudicial District judge, and Janelle Kendall, Stearns Co. Attorney.
Their presentation “Domestic Violence Court Partnership: Developing Systems to Meet Survivors’ Needs”highlighted the creation, impact, and strategies of the Domestic Violence Court Partnership.
Patty presented on the impact of domestic violence on children. She focused attention on the importance of helping children voice their experiences through art and play. Using pictures drawn by children and their own words, helps mothers understand the trauma her children are experiencing and may ultimately influence her decisions regarding Orders For Protection.
